Jeremy Hartill

Jeremy began his career with NatWest Bank’s asset-finance subsidiary, Lombard North Central Plc in 1990. He moved on to work with Syscap (now part of Wesleyan Bank) where he took on sales and sales management roles responsible for strategic IT vendor-finance programmes. In 1997 Jeremy co-founded Genesis Capital Plc, a leasing brokerage specialising in the financing of software and services.  Having significantly grown the business in his role as Sales & Marketing Director, Jeremy sold his 50% equity shareholding in 2005. In 2006, Jeremy successfully launched Capitas Finance, a specialist asset & commercial finance company that now ranks amongst the UK’s leading independent corporate-finance providers.
 
As Managing Director of Capitas, Jeremy has overall responsibility for business strategy and development through planning, directing and managing all aspects of Capitas’ operations and performance. He is also personally involved in the day-to-day management of the offices and its employees.

Jeremy attended the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst as an Officer Cadet. He gained a Post Graduate Diploma in Professional Sales Management, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing where he achieved Chartered Marketer status.

Mark Turrell

Mark has 25 years of transaction and leadership experience in Asset & Commercial Finance, covering multiple asset classes and industries, gained within both bank and non-bank financing organisations including IBM, Lombard (RBS), GE Capital, Barclays and Metro Bank. Within these organisations Mark held relationship, business development and leadership roles managing relationships with customers and partners, structuring a full range of small ticket to large value transactions and financing programmes.

Mark joined Capitas in 2017, and as our newest team member, he brings with him his considerable expertise in team leadership, business development, relationship management, the management of internal functions & complex deal execution.

Mark has a BA (Hons) Degree and a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA). He has also gained a Finance & Leasing Association Certificate and is an accredited Chartered Banker.

Mike Bethwaite

Mike was formerly Vice President of Shell Commercial where, primarily, he managed Business Development and Operations for Shell Auto Finance. Mike has over 30 years experience in asset finance with a particular skill set in the automotive sector. His career started with Mercantile Credit / Barclays in the North West of England and he progressed through a variety of roles to become National Business Development Director. His role spanned risk & credit management, commercial investments, compliance and developing a national-sales team. Mike has also worked with Automotive Financial Services and Singer & Friedlander as a specialist commercial manager.

Mike joined Capitas in 2008 and has brought with him a vast industry experience and his expertise in monitoring and managing developments in the Energy, Automotive and Manufacturing sectors.

Mike has a degree in Applied Physics from the University of Bradford and many personal development and training awards covering; - Credit Management, Project Management, People Management including coaching, mentoring and team building, Strategic Negotiation.

Tom Dramby

Tom has worked successfully for over 35 years in the USA and UK primarily in the role of Head of Credit for two International Banks and a UK major Asset Finance and Leasing venture.

Tom was born and educated in the United States where he pursued and received his accounting-based degree. In 1978 he began his career working mainly within the controller’s side of Bank of America in California, and within two years made a move to work as an account executive in the Bank's Corporate Banking Division that focused on lending to major USA based customers. After being promoted to work in the Bank's global specialised lending division that operated from the Bank's holding company, Tom was seconded to the Banks's European Leasing speciality division that was based in London. In his role as Credit Director, Tom was responsible for overseeing leasing to ten European Countries.

Since then Tom's commerce experience has remained UK Credit led, fulfilling the role of Director of Credit with ING Bank's Asset & Leasing specialist in the UK, as well as working for Barclays Bank lending to HNWI and International clients. More recently Tom, along with two other founding partners, successfully started a new Middle Ticket Leasing business with Close Brothers Bank and within five years, went on to successfully sell the business back to the partner bank.

Tom's roles and substantial expertise in credit have been unique insofar as he has been responsible for the credit-decision making process on an end-to-end basis. After selling Middle Ticket Leasing back to the Close Brothers bank, Tom was invited to undertake a 3-year role as Head of Credit for their lending division. Tom's final position before retiring from Close Brothers was to head up and manage larger and more complicated problematic credit structured clients for the institution.

Following his departure from Close Brothers, Tom joined Capitas in a non-executive capacity, and he brings with him his many years of UK Asset Finance experience along with his in-depth credit knowledge. His role within Capitas is to promote and grow Capitas's current Bank funding panel and to actively assist in securing bank credit approvals.

Phil Scales

Financial Controller & Company Secretary

Phil is a Chartered Accountant (FCA) and member of the Institute of Tax (CTA).  He has 40 years commercial experience in tax, finance and accounting matters.

Phil worked as a partner in Moores Rowland (a top twenty firm of Chartered Accountants for 20 years), initially specialising in corporate tax, and eventually moving on to focus on owner-managed businesses. He left the accountancy firm in 1999 to develop his interests and skills in data analytics and reporting.

Phil has worked with Capitas since it was established in 2005, overseeing Capitas’s financial reporting, undertaking company secretarial obligations and advising on financial matters across all company interests. In addition, Phil helps with the development of and improvements to organisational strategy alongside senior management.

Sean Williams

Non-Executive Director

Sean was founder and CEO of Syscap Plc. Formed in 1990 Syscap grew into the largest independent IT finance company in the UK. Sean ran the company until it's successful sale in 2006.
Sean then joined investment company Brook Henderson, assisting in building a portfolio of companies in the medical and energy sectors.  
 
In 2016 Sean left to focus on developing his own investments in a variety of businesses across the finance, energy, IT and marketing sectors. Sean as Non-Executive Director of Capitas provides board support and his key responsibilities encompass corporate governance, business strategy, performance, risk & people.
 
Sean plays a crucial consultative role within Capitas where he brings independence, impartiality, wide experience, specialist knowledge and personal qualities. Capitas also benefits from his astute market perception and broad perspective on the banking & finance sectors.
 
Sean has a degree in Mathematics from London University.

Robert Clarke

Non-Executive Director

After qualifying as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse he then worked full time in the private equity industry for more than 20 years, at Electra Partners and then Cognetas LLP where he was a founding partner.  Through this Robert has extensive experience of investing in unquoted businesses, fundraising, investor reporting, management of a private equity firm and board representation on portfolio investments.
 
Robert now has a plural career which includes being an active angel investor and a Partner of the alternative assets investment firm Connection Capital, where he chairs the Investment Committee.  
 
Robert supports and advises Capitas in its development and is able where appropriate to provide advice to Capitas supplier partners who require a combination of equity and debt to support transactions.

Sarah Bitmead

Operations Manager

Sarah joined Capitas in May 2014 and has 22 years’ experience in the asset finance industry. Prior to joining Capitas, Sarah was Company Secretary and Operations Manager for Key Finance, an independent leasing company.  In a varied role, she was responsible for lease residual risk management, block discounting, own book receivables and IT systems relating to lease management software that enabled the company to organise and report on its lease portfolio more effectively.
 
Sarah’s senior role at Capitas involves operations management. She is responsible for the development, design, operation, and improvement of the systems that create and deliver the company’s broking, wholesale and own book financial products & services.  Ultimately, Sarah’s job is to make sure Capitas runs as well as it possibly can, managing resources to the most productive uses and marshalling a smooth efficient service that meets the expectations and needs of customers, supplier partners and funders.
 
Sarah has a OTHM Level 3 Diploma in Business Studies from The Arts & Business College of London.

Sara Williams

Administration Manager

Sara began her career in the leasing industry in 2002, working as a new business administrator at Genesis Capital plc.  She was swiftly promoted to Administration Manager responsible for the new leasing business process and preparation of management information. Sara joined Key Finance in 2007 to fulfil a broader role assisting in lease-portfolio management, payment reconciliations and debt management. She has accrued 11-years experience within the finance and leasing industry.  
 
At Capitas, Sara works closely with the executive team to provide administrative management ensuring that appropriate systems, procedures and controls are in place. She also takes a supportive role in managing external relationships with our direct customers, supplier partners and funders, and is integral to driving the quality assurance of the company.

Sara has a degree in Travel & Tourism Management from University of Plymouth and is an Associate (ACMI) - Chartered Management Institute.
